BLOG DAY OF SILENCE

Today we are taking a break from blogging to spend in thought and prayer for The Turner Family as they lay to rest their beloved Matt. Please join me in praying for them, as well as anyone else who has lost a loved one recently.

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people." Ephesians 6:18

The Proof is in the Pin: Pinterest Linkup

I have had a mad sweet tooth lately. Actually who am I even kidding? I have a mad sweet tooth permanently. But I don't really like to bake. Just too time consuming for me. I decided I wanted to try a Pinterest recipe that was fairly simple and {more than} fairly sweet to share in Sarah's link up for The Proof is in the Pin.
And here is what I found....

Butterfinger Clone
Source: ruflove.com via Alison on Pinterest
Want to know just how simple this recipe is?!?! It uses only three ingredients.
  • candy corn (I used pumpkins because target was out of regular candy corn)
  • peanut butter
  • chocolate candy coating
The recipe I used is found here

Silent Auction for The Turner Family

Over the weekend, one of our own lost the love of her life in a tragic car accident. You can read more about it here.

We know many of us were shocked and saddened by the death of Julee’s husband and baby Preslee’s daddy over the weekend. It’s hard whenever a loved one’s time is cut short, but especially when it touches someone so young. And it has put Julee in the position of single parenting her 10-month-old baby girl, in a way that no one should have to face.

We know that she’s surrounded by loved ones, family and friends that can love on her, mourn with her, and be there for her in ways that many of us can’t. But it has touched a lot of us in Blog and Twitter Land and many want to help in a tangible way. So here is a way that we can come together and honor Matt Turner and offer what support we can to his wife and daughter.

Next week, October 15th through the 19th, we (Life in the Green House, Life Sweet Life, Knee-Deep in Munchkin Land, The Getts Times, SheSheMade) will be conducting a silent auction with all proceeds going to Julee and Preslee.

To Donate an Item*:
  •  Create a post detailing the item up for auction. Include a description and/or picture.
  •  On Monday, October 15th visit any of the above blogs and list your item. Make sure to use the direct link to that specific post.
  •  Once the auction end on Friday, October 19, we’ll have you email us with the winner’s name, email address, and the amount of the winning bid. We’ll invoice the winner.

*If you do not have a blog, but still want to donate an item, please contact any of the Jenns, Sarah, or Ashley and we will be happy to list your item for you!

 To Bid on an Item:

  • On Monday, October 15th visit any of the above blog to view the list of donated items. If an item interests you, click on the link to read more information.
  • To place a bid, leave a comment on that blog’s post leaving your email address and your bid.Be sure to check the list often as new items will be added throughout the week.

This is the amazing part of blogging...its watching a community of men and women come together to support one another in need. Thanks for your willingness to help and we’re looking forward to a successful auction. And as always, we’re sure that Julee, Preslee, and the rest of their loved ones would greatly appreciate your prayers in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

Day 7 of clothes and chatter

On this cold muggy Sunday we all stayed in our jammies. Ava has a yucky cold and Judd was extra needy so we missed church. I hope they both are feeling well by Wednesday when Ava and I go to Disney World!
Since I have no great pictures to post I took this video of Aaron reading to Judd and thought it'd be fun to share. Judd LOVES books and he really gets into anything we read to him.
This first video makes me laugh at how eager he is to turn the pages.

YouTube Video

This next book is his very favorite. If he sees it in his toy cabinet he will take it out and grunt/whine until we see him holding it. He gets SO tickled when we read it. You can see the excitement in his eyes as he looks at me while Aaron is reading.

YouTube Video

I hope you all are having a nice Sunday with your family and/or friends. Please hug your loved ones a little tighter and keep the Turner family in your thoughts and prayers. Life is so fragile and we never know how long we have here as this is not our home.

Day 6 of clothes and chatter

Today was a girl's day out/boy's day in Saturday for us!
Ava and I went to the mall and to target to pick up last minute items for Disney World.
I needed some sunglasses and shoes while Ava "needed" the Rapunzel wedding dress.
Ava had so much fun trying on sunglasses with me in Claire's.

We left Claire's and went to Sunglass Hut and Ava thought she could handle the Prada and Tory Burch sunglasses just as she was with the Claire's glasses. Cue anxiety attack! I did find some Tory Burch ones I LOVED but opted for some DG's.
Ava wore her cute Target tulle dresses shirt with her Gap grey leopard skinnies. She is SO not liking the skinnies bc it gives her a serious case of the plumber's crack.
I feel your pain, Ava. You are my child!
Judd was dressed by Daddy today and check him out...

Super stud! Daddy did well. He is wearing his Baby Boden plaid flannel pants and mustard striped tee. How Aaron knew they went together is beyond me!

It was super cold today! He was checking out the pumpkins Ava brought home for the both of them.

And here is my sweet boy right before bed.

Hope you all had a nice Saturday!

Clothes and Chatter Day 5

Today we were looking pretty festive in our fall SheShe Made!

I know, right? They are way too close to each other!
What can I say? Judd prefer's his personal space.
Exhibit A....

They got tons of compliments on their clothes today and like always, I just said "thanks" and never elaborated on where I "got" them. I just can't go there. It's too embarrassing for me. I would be a HORRIBLE sales person!

Judd was watching a car come down the street. The sound kind of makes him anxious. He is such a cautious little guy!

And here they are right before bedtime in their "bones" pajamas from The Gap.

I wish they made these for adults as well! Would be fun to wear as a family.

As for a funny line from Miss Ava today...I have several. She was in typical Ava form for sure! But the thing that stands out the most is on our drive home from school she said "Mom I cannot WAIT until I'm 45 and you are a little girl. It's gonna be cool. But I will be a little sad because you won't be my big mom any more."
She was turning around my line I use on her very often of "I'm so sad because you aren't my little baby any more." Ahhhh that girl thinks up some funny things in her little mind!
Hope you all have a great weekend!

31 days Day 4 of clothes & chatter

Ava had school again today so we decided to wear Halloween colors.

Black gingham ruffle shorts, her "inmate orange" uniform shirt, Halloween bow and black sparkly Mary Jane TOMS.
I took this picture after school so she was a little roughed up by that time.
Judd wore his SheShe pumpkin bloomer set. His mom has an addiction to bloomer sets. We are wearing them as long as possible, much like bubbles.

He is such a smoochy little pumpkin too! Those leg creases? I could eat them up!

I'm too tired to recall any funny chatter today. Judd has been regressing with his naps which means I get to work longer at night. Ahhhh!

Ava has picture day tomorrow at museum school and I know exactly what I want her to wear. Stay tuned!

Clothes and Chatter Day 3

Today was a fairly low key day, as most Wednesdays are. It's typically our one day of the week that we have no place to be. I decided to take the kids to see Aaron's parents after Judd woke up at 9:30 from his morning nap. Am I the only one who escapes the house if I know it's going to be a long wakeful period??
On our way to Pappy and May's house Ava asked if I was going to drop her off and go bye-bye. I informed her that would not be happening as May had a dr appt so we could only visit for an hour. Without missing a beat she let's me know that she is unhappy with this plan and she "does not want to go see Pappy and May because visiting for just an hour will just make me miss them way too much!" Little smarty pants was trying really hard to get to stay the night with them.

I picked out a cute Matilda Jane set for Ava to wear but she wasn't having it today.
Her pick?

This bugly Target dress. Why is it that she always likes the one piece of clothing that I dislike the most? Anyway, I had her wear the ruffled tights to try and make it as cute as it possibly could be. Ha! She was rocking the outfit with that side pony and those sunglasses though, wasn't she? Oh! And I just realized homegirl is wearing my bracelet. Nice.

As for Judd, luckily he has no choice for his attire. And today he was looking pretty sweet in his Zackali hand knit sweater romper.

He has three of these rompers and I absolutely am obsessed with them! Perfect for the weather we are having lately, too!

This afternoon Ava had her friend Lily come over and it was all about the princess wear.

I will most likely cry my eyes out the day she decides she is too big to play dress up and have tea parties.

Day 2 of Clothes and Chatter

Today was a school day for Ava. She has to wear the heinous tshirts y'all, and it's always a challenge for me to dress them up cute. But a challenge I am all over! Here she is today as we were about to walk out the door.

And Judd is dressed up today to go to....wait for it...Hobby Lobby! Ha! I totally should've waited to bust out this pumpkin bubble but I couldn't stand it. He will be wearing this as many days as possible this month bc I'm afraid this will be his last month of bubbles. Tragedy!

Funny chatter from today: We finished this 300 piece puzzle that we've been working on every night since Saturday. But while we were working it, I told Ava to scoot over because she was on top of me. She says "You scoot over, you nerd!"
Ok. Nerd? That's a new one. And isn't she supposed to wait until at least 3rd grade to call her mom a nerd?!

31 days of Clothes and Chatter

So all across my parts of the internets my "friends" are linking up and doing this cool thing where they blog about a specific topic for the entire 31 days of October. As much as I'd love to participate in the link up and actually blog about something of real substance that's deep or heartfelt, October is just a crazy month for my family. And let's face it, blogging is not something I do on a weekly basis even as it is.
With that said, I thought it would be a fun month to *try* and blog daily snip its of our life, even if it's a rather shallow topic I choose. So, I'm going to attempt to log in once a day and share.....
"clothes and chatter" from the little people I love the most.

Our month is full of fall festivities, Disney World, and Judd's first birthday so I know there will be at least a few days of fun outfits I'd love to keep record of. And Ava and Judd are at such a fun and unique stage that I'd also like to jot down anything funny/interesting I hear/see them do for the day.
So that's that.
Now, you guys just have to keep me motivated to blog daily. If it happens and I'm successful, we just may see the heavens part on day 32. You never know!

Day One: Frankie Guy and Frankie Girl. (sorry they are such bad quality pics)

Posting these pictures reminded me to go Shout the bad boys because we ate spaghetti and pizza for lunch. Momma's shallow heart can't handle stained Halloween clothing this early in the game.

Funny chatter: Ava tells me "Mom, I really like to tell you when I toot." Me: "Ava that is very strange." Ava: "But it makes me laugh when you always say 'Thanks for sharing, Ava.' "

Yes, we are in the lovely stage of being obsessed with bodily functions and toot noises. It's driving me nuts.

Ahhh. So there is day one down. Happy October 1st!!

After having my girly girl in April of 08, and spending oodles of money on one of a kind boutique, monogrammed clothing (with hairbows to match), I decided it was time to learn this trade myself before I went broke! I learned how to sew, embroider, and make hairbows in a matter of 3 months. What started as a hobby has turned into a dream come true. I quit my job as a teacher and now work from home when the little one sleeps. My life as a mommy and a boutique clothing designer/manufacturer/monogrammer is truly the best of both worlds!! I have big dreams for the future of my family and the future of SheShe Made. Thanks for joining me as I blog about the journey. Let me know if there is a bow or outfit you'd like custom made for you! Email me at sheshebows@yahoo.com and thanks for stopping by!
