Happy Mother's Day

My hope is that you had a blessed Mother's Day, spent with the ones you love.
I had a great Mother's Day with lots of family time, hugs, kisses, and laughter.

Ava begged to wear her wings to church this morning. Too cute!

My Mother's Day gift from Ava was that she didn't cry when going to the church nursery today. YAY!! It's about TIME! She has been going since about 13 months (we were too chicken to put her in the nursery until then. I know. Hellicopter parents.)but she cried every. time. we. pulled. into. the church parking lot since about 20 months! I'm hoping and praying this means she is over the anxiety for good.
We went to lunch at Hibachi which was not our original plan, but it was the only place with less than a 800 minute wait.

Ava loves Edamame and steamed rice.

Oh what a mess she made with the rice, however! Aaron told them we were sorry about the second great oil spill of 2010. Ha!
My gifts were these beautiful flowers...

and a check titled "San Antonio Stroll". I was so excited! I have a good friend that lives down there and she asked us (Ava and I) to come see her for a girl's weekend. Which means I get to take Ava here!! I want Aaron to go with us, but with school ending, it's just too crazy for him to get away. And summer is too busy. So, we are probably going in the next few weeks. I am super excited!!
Now, I just have to get up the nerve
to travel in the car
alone
with her for 4 hours...
EEK!!!

Popular Baby Names according to the Monogram Industry

Kelly's Korner is doing a link up on Baby Names. I thought it was funny because I had already planned on doing a post today about Names in regards to the "monogramming industry". It's funny because I feel like I can tell you hands down the most popular names for specific ages, just based on what we sell and in what sizes. Here is what I mean...
For A-Line dresses, which are more for the toddler girls, the names we see over and over are the following:
-Madison
-McKenzie
-Avery
-Audrey
-Kaylee, Kayleigh, Katelynn
-Emma
-Kinley, Kinsey
-Grace

For the Initial Butt Onesies, which are for babies obviously, the names we see most frequently are the following:
-Ava (go figure)
-Lilly, Lily, Lillie
-Layla, Laila
-anything Kate...Sarah Kate, Molly Kate, Jilian Kate, Ella Kate, Anna Kate

For the boys, the names we see mostly are the following:
-Brayden
-Henry
-Jude
-Noah
-Luke
-Grayson

Names I've seen that are different but I love:

-Poppy
-Paisley
-Mirabelle

And for the TOP THREE NAMES that we see at least 3 times a month:
Ellie
Ella
Bella

Isn't that funny?!?!? They are very similar names and those are the top 3 without a doubt. So, if you are having a girl or hope to have a girl, and you are crazy for monogrammed clothing, and would prefer hand me downs to cut down on costs....these are great name choices for you. Haha!!

As for my name preference, we, (clearing throat) I mean I, have had my heart set on Ava since Reese Witherspoon named her daughter that back like 10 years ago. I just loved it and thought it was beautiful and not very common. Well, of course it became very popular but I had already made up my mind and if you know me, once I have my mind made up, that's the way it goes...
We named her Ava Joyce because my mom, grandmother, and great grandmother all had the middle name of Joyce. I wanted to carry on the Joyce torch and thought it was a great way to honor three wonderful women.

When it comes to boys...we have no idea! We never agreed on anything other than a middle name of Richard since it was Aaron's dad's name. And to this day we don't even really talk about boy names. We always talk about girl names. You see, Aaron has his mind made up that we are only having girls and he is going to be just like Charles (is that his name??) Engles.
Our girl names are Anna Lake, Violet Lake, Anna Belle (Aaron's mom's middle name is Belle), Piper Hope, and Annalee Hope. But none of those I am dead set on. We would love to stick with the "A" names and also prefer for the name to be not so long since our last name is long. So who knows!!!

Names are just so fun.
So are weekends.

I have been super excited to show off this model because I just love her birthday outfit! And it helps that she is a little cutie too...
Meet Emersyn.

She turned 2 and had a cupcake party.
How sweet!


The cupcake icing is made from fuschia minky and it really does look like icing! I loved the way this set turned out.

Our Weekend

Friday afternoon we headed to a spring Festival in Ft. Worth. It was a blast for all three of us. I had fun looking at vendor booths, Aaron had fun eating, (well I had fun with that as well!), and Ava had fun playing!
The weather was great and we just enjoyed being outdoors.

Ok, these next pictures are step by step action shots of the funniest thing. It was a "baby boot camp" inflatable as I called it and Ava went up this thing 13 times!!!





It was hilarious to watch her tumble over the obstable course and climb this huge ladder tower thing (huge for her size) while all the older kids waited behind her S_L_O_W self. And then to see her hair flying up in the air as she flew down the slide was just tooooooo funny. We were in tears watching her. She has a fear of NOTHING!!

Can't go to a festival without eating a Turkey Leg. It's just protocol people!



She was saying "get wup" goat. She wanted that darn goat to get up and play with her. She loves all petting zoos I tell ya. She is not my kid! I am just fine seeing animals in magazines, movies, and from afar. When I have to smell them, it's just not as cute for me.


Saturday we had our Mom's group annual anniversary picnic at the park. Here is our family photo taken in front of that amazing backdrop painted by some of the moms in our group. The theme was "Alice in Wonderland." It was very cool!

We didn't dress up. We were just happy to be there with our full weekend as it was.
Did Ava ever leave the playground, however??
Not really.
She barely ate her lunch, she missed the pinata, and she could care less about socializing.
All she wanted to do was play!!


And slide!

This girl could be outdoors every day of her life if we would let her!
Later that evening we went to eat at a fancy restaurant while the grandparents watched Ava. She had a ball playing at their house!

She has a little drawer at Pappy and May's house with all kinds of toys, including balls and cars and little men and all kinds of old school toys from when Aaron and his siblings were little. She goes straight for that drawer without fail every time she visits. It's her favorite!!
Today we just laid low and tried to recoup from our busy weekend. Her Auntie dressed her up as a Ballerina (Ava is obsessed with Ballet...and balls and cars. She is well rounded I like to say).

Doesn't she look so grown up in this picture?!?!?! Where did my baby go???? Goodness gracious it makes me sad!

Wrapping up the weekend this evening, chilling outside with Lucy.

Yes, she still has a pacifier. Don't judge. She mainly gets it at sleep time, but she was grumpy today and we were home so I gave in to save my sanity. Haha!

Not much to blog about other than showing some more new things I've done for customers lately.

I love the way this pillowcase dress turned out! A customer sent me this fabric along with the fabric below and asked us to make her 2 pillowcase dresses because she couldn't find anybody in her home town to make one. We were happy to do so!

We will offer this minky dress in the winter!



Sassy little baby gown. Have I already told you all how SOFT this gown is??? Well, in case I haven't...It is sooo soft!

Model MONDAY!

I've been excited to show off these little darlings!!

Cameron, the oldest, turned 2 and had a fifties themed party. On the same day Ellie, the youngest, turned 3/4 of a year!
IS THAT NOT ADORABLE???

Cameron's mom wanted a shirt and bow to match her pettiskirt. And she made those shoes herself!
Happy 2nd birhtday to Cameron.


She also wanted a matching outfit for Ellie and I found this skirt at Target and just added a poodle to it.
