Coupons?!?!

So, Ava has a newfound love.
She calls them "coupons".
I tried to explain they were called croutons.

She prefers the word "coupons" and I think it may just stick in this family.

Weekend Recap

What a busy weekend we had! It never stopped.
Friday we went up to Aaron's school to celebrate his birthday. His actualy birthday was on Sunday, but his office staff threw a little luncheon for him on this day. Ava loves to go "see daddy wuk" and I think she mostly loves to roam the halls of his school and act like she owns the place. HA!

On Saturday we went to the Sotckshow and Rodeo. Being from Texas, this is a very big annual event. It was a record breaking weekend for crowds. Glad we could help contribute to that record. NOT! It was very crowded, but Ava enjoyed seeing all of the animals. Scratch that. She LOVED seeing all the animals. Here she is visiting a pig. And please do check out her "rodeo dress" from yours truly!

Ava and mom, posing in the midst of Tractors. You can't tell, but there were tractors on exhibits all around us.
Or are animals the only things on exhibits?!?!?
Either way, I thought it was the perfect place for a photo.

Ava and her cousins riding a bull. I'd say they look like anything but amateurs, wouldn't you?

Saturday night Ava went to NeeNee's house while we went to dinner and had friends over.
All in all, it was a great weekend!

Bowhead and The Beast

So, Ava has worn a bow on her head since she entered this world. I tell everyone her birthday suit was accessorized with a bow! That yes, she indeed came out that way. Honestly. No?
Anyway, so she has worn the bows. We did headbands until she pulled them off and wore them as necklaces. Then we did the baby bows from about 13-19 months since she was bald for FOREVER, and she insisted on ripping those out as well. She did it because she knew I wanted her to wear them and she felt "in control" of the situation.
I wonder where on earth she gets that?!?!?
And now that she has more hair, we can do a little of every size. I THOUGHT I'D NEVER SEE THE DAY. We are thisclose to pigtails! SO PUMPED.
Anyway, I am beyond thrilled because we reached the most important milestone of all time.....ya know, the days where she asks for a bow after I get her dressed?!!
Yes, that is the one!!
In fact, the other day she wanted me to put all 65+ bows on her head. I tried to explain that it was impossible. Ever reasoned with a 21 month old???
It doesn't go over so well. With some redirection, she settled for 6.

Girls are so fun! Sassy, but fun!
So.....I mentioned we had a new addition to our house. It was finally time to upgrade/add a new machine.
Without further ado, meet THE BEAST!

I have been needing this upgrade, but just couldn't stomach spending $7000-$9000 on something other than, I don't know, a car? Well, I guess cars cost more...but it's dang close!!! I got this from the nicest guy off Craigslist. He had it just for fun and so it is barely used and it's in perfect condition. It's only a year old, and most importantly...it's my new best friend! {Self indulgence coming up}.....After seeing what it does, I CANNOT believe how much patience and devotion I had for the machine I used prior. WOW!!! How did I ever get that much done? This beast does two or three times faster what the other did, and it's just great! I am even now able to sometimes do two projects at once. I'm not letting old faithful go. Gotta utilize both machines as much as I can. AND BEST PART IS...My bedtime has changed from 3 AM to 12 or 1 AM. BLISS!
In fact, my dream is to have maybe a few more people working with me...and I might just have to pass this one down if push comes to shove. THAT'S MY DREAM! ;)
And so far, with the most incredible customers and the greatest, most supportive family and friends....I do believe my dream is unfolding right before my eyes!!!

So I don't get it...

I kinda get twitter, but not really. I don't think it's something I will stick with for now. My biggest worry was that I don't want to be constantly attached to my phone (more than I already am). I try to be very good about replying to emails from customers as soon as I can, and sometimes that means I put Ava on hold. Sometimes. And, because I don't have much self control, I think I need to continue NOT "getting" Twitter.
We shall see, however.

I have something new and exciting to introduce to you. It's a new addition to our house. I will take a few pics and post about it SOON!

TOMORROW is the LAST DAY for 15% off Valentine's orders. Also, I will probably end all Valentine sales within the week. We want to make sure they (the orders we have currently) arrive by February 1st, so get them while they are still available!!!

Keeping up with technology

Never say never.
So, I did what I said I would never do.
I was the one that made fun of people that used Twitter.
I thought "GET A LIFE".
I snickered "Yes, please tell me everything you are doing at all times because I am soooo interested and might lose sleep if I don't know exactly what time you last went to the restroom."
Ha!
And look at me now!
I have opened an account an Twitter.
Noticed I said "opened an account".
Let's see if I use it.
My hope is to eventually give away discount codes, special offers, ect.
IF...Twitter and I get along this is.

We shall see!

P.S. Sorry about being MIA this week. Ava was siiiiick as a dog with cold sores, fever, body rash, hacking up a lung cough, not being able to breathe at night...it was loads of fun!
But I am back in full force!

EXCITED ABOUT THE WEEK AHEAD. (oh wait, Monday already came huh?)
THE WEATHER IS GOING TO BE BEAUTIFUL IN NORTH TEXAS THIS WEEK! YAY!

Sleepy Time

Since I am lacking in the sleep department, and my brain is completely full of custom order ideas, Easter dress plans and, and cute color combos for pillows...

... I think I may mail off these 8 orders waiting to go, and take the day off.
Ava is hanging out with NeeNee today.
What a glorious day!
Hope you all are having a great day! STAY WARM.

Oh! The Valentine Dresses are up on the website. I will take approximately 40 orders and then we are marking SOLD OUT on both. Boy's shirt blanks will hopefully be arriving in the mail tomorrow. CAN'T WAIT!

Valentines Preview

Ok, as promised....here is what SheShe Made is doing for Valentine's Day.
This is called "My Wild Valentine"

I just love the red with tiny hearts!! Not too much, and not too little.
And this one is called "My 80's Valentine"

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this watermelon pink color of corduroy!
The customer that ordered this dress, also ordered matching ruffle tights and a bow. AND I can also do the same exact heart, just smaller, on bloomers!

I'm still undecided on which dress I want made for Ava. My intent was to make dresses that could be worn LONGER than just the month of February. And I hope I delivered!

AND....you guys twisted my arm. Ha ha! I will indeed be making a boy's shirt. It will be up for preview and available for purchase in about a week.

These dresses will be available for purchase in a few days. Keep checking back on my website!

New Year means New Opportunities

Well, we made it official. SheShe Made is now a licensed (is that the word) business with the state of Texas! With that comes the good and bad. I am soooo bad at accounting...in fact, it all scares me! Good thing my husband considers that a hobby! He doesn't know he's about to take on a hobby that will be a second job! HA!!!
But, good news is, we get to go to fun fabric warehouses and by fabric at wholesale. NEVER in a million years did I think this is where my life would lead. BUT OH MY GOODNESS do I love it!
I HAVE THE GREATEST JOB IN THE WORLD.
THANKS TO YOU!!!
Be on the lookout for something 80's inspired AND something zebra-ey for Valentine's dresses.
ALSO....I have had at least 2 moms ask me if I was making boys valentine's shirts. My initial thought was no, because I don't see many sells, and don't have much time to devote to creting it at the moment. But, I don't want to "sale" myself short...No pun intended. Ha! I'm a tool!

What do you think? Should I do a boy's valentine's shirt?????

Be back SOON with new pics! Give me until Tuesday! ;)

My photo
Ft. Worth, Texas
After having my girly girl in April of 08, and spending oodles of money on one of a kind boutique, monogrammed clothing (with hairbows to match), I decided it was time to learn this trade myself before I went broke! I learned how to sew, embroider, and make hairbows in a matter of 3 months. What started as a hobby has turned into a dream come true. I quit my job as a teacher and now work from home when the little one sleeps. My life as a mommy and a boutique clothing designer/manufacturer/monogrammer is truly the best of both worlds!! I have big dreams for the future of my family and the future of SheShe Made. Thanks for joining me as I blog about the journey. Let me know if there is a bow or outfit you'd like custom made for you! Email me at sheshebows@yahoo.com and thanks for stopping by!
